In the US there are 250 million tons of trash from house hold per year.  Each year it has been reduced with recycling.  Let us try to make this world a safer, cheaper, greener and better place to live.

To help us to reduce carbon footprint and to live a greener life, we can do something at home.  Here are the top  tips to go green for your home and environment and save money at the same time.

  • Turn off any appliances at the power point when you are not using them.
  • Use energy efficient bulbs – will use less electricity
  • Turn down the thermostat and wear warmer clothes in winter.  If you reduce each degree you will save 3% of your bill.  Turn the temperature down from 68 degree fahrenheit to 60 degree fahrenheit while you sleep.
  • Keep drafts out by making sure your house has good insulation especially the window seals.
  • Reduce the use of aerosol to cut down the amount of CO2 being polluted into the atmosphere.
  • Open door to get fresh air and also boiling herbs and spices which is another alternative to fresh air.
  • Reduce Junk Mail.  Opt in to receive normal mail services via email.
  • Use low flow shower heads- you will use less water reducing water bill and electricity bill at the same time.
  • Try to reduce, reuse and recycle any household products if possible.
